Tomatoes Help You Lose Weight

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Exercise, calorie counting and weight loss supplements will all help you in your weight loss jouney, but new research has found a simple fruit could make all the difference, reports safedietpills.co.uk

The key to keeping trim could simply be eating lots of red juicy tomatoes! Accoring to new research, eating the fruit leaves you feeling full, suppressing the urge to snack, which as we all know can be a slimmers worst nightmare!

Scientists believe that tomatoes are rich in compounds that alter levels of appetite hormones, making them a simple and inexpensive way to keep hunger pangs at bay.

A study group of 18-35 year old women, who were of average weight, were offered cream cheese sandwiches that were made with either white bread or bread that had been filled with tomatoes or carrots.

Researchers belived that due to the fibre in the carrots, this lunch would be the most filling. Surprisingly, the tomato based dish was the most filling!

The foundings were reported at a nutritional conference in France, researcher Dr Julie Lovegrove, of Reading University said: ‘They were given the sandwiches in a random order and we recorded how full they said they were.

‘It was a small study, and we can’t yet say what the crucial tomato ingredient is, but the results were statistically significant.’

Additional studies will focus on whether eating tomatoes alters levels of appetite-regulating hormones, including ghrelin. A lower level of ghrelin makes us feel full. The researchers have yet to discover which part of the tomato suppresses appeteite.

Early suggestions have seen Lycopene, the pigment that gives tomatoes their red colour, considered to be the mysterious key ingredient.

Lycopene is already credited with an array of health benefits, from warding off cancer to boosting fertility.

Past studies have shown that tomatoes can help the heart, with regular servings of ketchup and tomato juice reducing cholesterol levels dramatically. While these Scientists are some way off from discovering why tomatoes help suppress appeteite, one product currently available has been scientifically proven to dramatically reduce appetite.

Hoodia gordonii has been used for thousands of years by South African natives to fight off hunger pangs. Today, Scientists have discovered why it is so effective.

It’s due to a P57 molecule found in this wild plant that is 10,000 times more powerful than glucose (the sugar that makes you feel full).

There are hundreds of hoodia products available, but our experts at safedietpills.co.uk believe Unique Hoodia provides you with one of the most effective and safe hoodia products available.
